Hampelas (Sundanese and Malay) or rampelas
(Javanese) is a plant from the Moraceae family which is up to 20 meters high with a height of 50 cm, grows in
throughout Indonesia, spread at an altitude of less than 1,300 m above sea level.
The trunk of the Hampelas tree stands upright, round and has shape
sympodial branching. The leaves are single, alternate, oval, edged
jagged. Hampelas leaves have a rough texture and can dry out if dry
used as sandpaper to smooth the surface of wood.
The flowers are 5–7 mm long, brownish green,
and the petals are funnel-shaped. While the seeds are shaped
round and white.
Hampelas is cultivated because of the use of its leaves
it also grows by itself. The liquid from this plant can be drunk, it is useful for treating people who have difficulty urinating and as a medicine for diarrhea. Hampelas contains water, is yellowish brown in color and tastes spicy. This liquid can be obtained by cutting the roots and collecting the water in a small vessel.
