Belitung taro, kimpul or bentul (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) is a species of tropical flowering plant from the genus Xanthosoma that produces edible starchy tubers. This plant belongs to the taro family (Araceae) which originates from tropical America, but is now spread throughout various parts of the world. Brought into Asia around the 19th century, this plant is known in Indonesia by various names such as kimpul (Btw., Sd.); kimpul, glitung, bisono, busil, bentul, bothe, linjik (Jw.); dilago gogomo (Hal.). There is also a sibling from the same genus, namely X. violaceum. The stalks and leaves are purple, and therefore it is called kimpul hideung or kimpul wulung (Sd., Jw.)
